Our nation may be deeply divided, but doesn’t nearly everyone value children and agree they’re our future? Yet, there’s a disconnect between our values and state, local and even federal policies promoting the health, safety and well-being of children.
Right now, foster children are sleeping in child welfare offices because they have nowhere else to go. Kids are being Baked Acted up to 40 times instead of getting appropriate mental health treatment. And one in two hard-working Florida families struggles to afford basic needs – food, housing and shelter.
America’s everyday families can’t employ lobbyists or PR firms to represent their struggles and needs to make changes happen. That’s why American Children’s Campaign Action Fund exists. We are a 501 (c) (4) tax exempt organization. This structure expands our activities to power the change for children. Our goal is to create the collective will to come together to get things done.
You don’t have to visit less developed countries to see children in need. They’re here, in our own backyards.
Despite some progress, the very systems that shape everyday children’s lives – education, health, child welfare, juvenile justice – are fragmented and crisis response focused. And it shows.
